The University of Edinburgh has been working closely with the Mastercard Foundation since 2016, through a grant to the University, which awarded 200 scholarships to bright African students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
We will continue to work with the Foundation to provide 850 postgraduate scholarships between 2023 and 2030.
The Mastercard Foundation is one of the largest foundations in the world, working virtually exclusively in Africa. Since 2006, Reeta Roy, the Foundation’s President and Founder, has guided it through a portfolio of projects and activities designed to improve young people’s access to education and employability throughout the African continent.
One of the Foundation’s core programs, the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program helps gifted young people—mostly young Africans—develop their leadership skills and learn.
