Lovely.! What inspired you to seek for scholarship and to study outside Nigeria?

Sincerely speaking many things inspired me to seek for scholarship to study outside Nigeria. A major reason was my ambition to acquire more knowledge. I am someone who believes in education. I believe that is my selling point. I have always wanted to be in an academic environment and to be a researcher. Looking at my country of origin,Β  the educational sector is really complicated. This geared my passion towards applying for scholarships to get a good quality Master education that my country could not adequately provide for me so as to fulfill my ambitions.

Were you rejected?? how did you handle it? share your experience.

Laughs…I will say rejection was part of my story. I started applying 2019. All of my applications were rejected except one which was reserved. Actually the reserved one gave me a push to apply again. In the year 2020, I applied again and God did it . I got the Pan African scholarship at Algeria. This is were patience come in.

I love the way you laughed πŸ˜€.! How many scholarships did you apply for before hitting the jackpot?

I lost counts though πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚… Many applications such as Erasmus, Common wealth, Mastercard Foundation, and several research scholarships.

Wow. Did you feel excited after getting one? Share your experience.

Definitely for real I felt a great joy. I felt Awesome that it eventually came. You know the kind of joy you feel like butterflies in your tummy, tears of joy steaming down my cheeks and I was actually rolling on the floor singing to God when I saw my mail 🀣🀣🀣. That was one of my best moments I must confess.

Splendid. From your experience, what are the needful things to be done before securing a scholarship?

There are many things to be done to secure a scholarship. My scholarship journey started in 2019. All my applications were rejected except one, which was a reserve. I had to sit back and reflect on what I was not doing well. From my experience I will list some necessities:

a.God first; pray because it all depends on God
b. Hard work. Be hardworking because God need to see something in you to bless. Laziness is a no for scholarships
c. Develop your network, meet scholars, discuss and seek guidance
d. Self development: enroll in Online study programs, volunteering as much as you can and go for internships.
e. Always be on the lookout for scholarship information
f. Start application early and give it your best. Starting application early gives time for enough reflection and proofreading
g. Have good relationships with lecturers, always call or message to check on them not just when you need reference

This is beautiful ma.!! Any platform that students can get scholarships from? please share.

Yeah there are many platforms.. I will suggest one to be an active member of a scholarship group to get updates, Twitter and LinkedIn. Also one can subscribe to study green there are lot of scholarship information there

Studying outside Nigeria, how does it feel?? Stressful, tasking or quite with ease? Share your experience.

For me it’s a combination of fun and stress. The educational system is very different from home, the work load seems more and really tasking I must confess but the learning environment makes it a bit easier. Here, I don’t have to complain about electricity or high data consumption rates. With all the amenities in place,Β  learning is made better and makes it easy to adapt to the work load that comes with it. In addition, moving to a new environment far from home and trying to adjust to the new way of life is very tasking but the benefits associated with scholarship helps ease the worries and stress I will say. It actually feels great to meet new people across the world, visit new places, try new foods, examines different culture, network and build important relationships.

What are your words of advice to intending scholarship applicants.??

My word of advice is never to get tired, it might seem delayed but keep pushing. Be intentional about what you want and work towards it. Pray constantly because He answers prayers.
In summary, prayers, patience, and hard-work. Also,it’s important to celebrate others when they win.

Yess…it is the last sentence for me. I celebrate you ma. Thank you for coming.
