The Consistent Wining Mind

Sharing is caring!

Welcome to honournaija_blog, please can we meet you??

My name is Ayanleye Samuel, from Osun State. I finished my undergraduate studies from Federal University of Technology Akure, with a discipline in forestry and wood technology graduated with a First class. I proceeded to University of British Columbia, Canada for my Masters of science and wood physics and I finished with a distinction. I love sports.

Lovely, what inspired you to study outside Nigeria??

Actually, I wanted to study microbiology in Federal University of Technology but I found myself in forestry department. I tried changing department but to no avail. In my part 3, I built my social media and I met great people in forestry that have done well. I was encouraged and I started checking out for scholarships. I have always wanted to study abroad and have international exposure and experience.

Were you rejected?? how did you handle it? share your experience.

Yes, I applied to over twenty schools and scholarships before I finally got one. I got several NO before I got a YES. You just need just one YES. I focused on improving myself on the application. I believed God and I didn’t give up.

How many scholarships did you applied for before hitting the jackpot?

Yes, I applied to over 20 scholarships, I got partial scholarships though but I needed a fully funded scholarship.

Consistency, Did you feel excited after getting one? Share your experience.

Yessss, I got the call in March, 2018 that I got the scholarship. I was so excited. It was a good thing and I was so happy.

From your experience, what are the needful things to be done before securing a scholarship?

I would say have a good grade, the competition is high and you need to stand out. Most of what they are looking for is leadership skills and volunteering skills too. They want to know how you can manage people.

Great, Any platform that students can get scholarships from? please share.

Its always good to join groups on WhatsApp, Facebook on scholarships. Talk to scholars and questions.

Studying outside Nigeria,  how does it feel?? Stressful,  tasking or quite with ease? Share your experience.

I would say its very stressful, tasking. You have to be emotionally, physically and spiritually prepared. You have to do more than what you have done in school in Nigeria. The courses are bulky and entails quality research work. You need to be prepared.

Wow, What are your words of advice to intending scholarship applicants.??

My advice is always believe in the promises of tomorrow. Keep applying and don’t give up. There is a saying that ‘if you stick enough to it, it will click’. So keep pushing and don’t give up. Thank you.

Woooow, thank you able scholar. Thank you for coming.
