An Enthusiastic Excellent Mind
This one excites me. So much live and fulfillment exuded on the success journey. There is an unexplainable level of satisfaction that comes with achieving your goals having pushed through tough times. We have a scholar braced up to the challenge to keep pushing himself through. He is enthusiastic about success. Let’s get to meet him.💃💃
Welcome to honournaija_blog, can we meet you??
Thank you very much for having me here, I am quite excited. My name is Ekejiuba Emeka .E. also known as Triple. E. I am a native of Awor-Orafite, Anambra State, Nigeria. I am a graduate of Nnamadi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra state with a discipline in Zoology (Entomology). 💥
What inspired you to seek for scholarship and to study outside Nigeria?
One of my main inspiration was the quest for a sound and quality education abroad. Having graduated top of my class in my undergraduate degree, I became determined in using this pioneer achievement to pursue a postgraduate degree abroad, fully-funded, in order to create positive impact.🌼
Were you rejected?? how did you handle it? share your experience.
In my quest for scholarship, I received couple of rejections especially in 2019 when I started the journey, having little or no idea about submitting good applications. Whenever I received rejection email, ironically called “Love Letter”, I feel so bad, sometimes depressed at the moment especially when I remember the energy I had put into the application. But once I remember my goal and the private objective I have set for myself, I brace up and put in more effort in my applications.💫
Wow, that is great. How many scholarships did you apply for before hitting the jackpot?
In 2019 when I started application, I applied for approximately 12 scholarships such as Chevening scholarship, Erasmus mundus, Stipendium hungaricum, Felix scholarship, Commonwealth shared, Talented Young Scientist of Nigeria (TYSON), New Zealand Government Scholarship, University of Sheffield International Merit Award, University of Glasgow Excellence Fee waiver, Singapore Government Scholarship(SINGA) etc. As the result round approached in 2020, I received the rain of rejections…hahahaha…..nevertheless, I was accepted for TYSON, and the University of Sheffield International Merit Award. The former was halted because of the incidence of covid-19 and I couldn’t continue with the latter because it wasn’t fully-funded, so I leased the position to another candidate. I started all over again in 2020 but applied strategically this time. I applied to the following scholarships in the 2020 round: Chevening, DAAD Epos, Gadja Mada Fellowship, Queen Elizabeth Common Wealth, and Erasmus Mundus scholarship. The results in 2021 were thus;
DAAD Epos: Awarded!
Gadja Mada Fellowship: Awarded!
Queen Elizabeth Commonweath: Awarded!
Erasmus Mundus: Placed on reserved List!
Loaded.!!! I key into this grace. You are truly triple. Did you feel excited after getting one? Share your experience.
Excitement was understatement! I was wowed, overjoyed..hahahaha…. it was a dream come true but nevertheless, I was left in a state of dilemma on which offer to accept…after varying deliberations and considerations, I decided to go for DAAD, and here I am in GERMANY!!!.💥💥💥💥
Lovely.!! Our German Scholar. From your experience, what are the needful things to be done before securing a scholarship?
Asides getting the necessary documents such as transcript, degree certificates, English proficiency letters, recommendation letters, international passport ready, you need to invest some energy in enriching your C.V via taking relevant courses, voluntary or paid relevant employments/ intern positions, publications, seminar attendance, presentations, and acquiring relevant soft skills and data analytic skills relevant to your field such as R, SPSS, Autocard etc. These will help in boosting your profile and increasing your competitive advantage especially well clearly elucidated in your motivation letter and/or SOP.💦💦
Detailed. Any platform that students can get scholarships from? please share.
One platform is google…everything one literary needs is hidden there in the google search engine, just type in the right word and you will get numerous results. Another way is joining some scholarship group on social media where these information and further mentorship are provided, here you network with like minds and achieve your goal e.g on WhatsApp, we have Potential scholars group, ISF, Erudite scholars, etc. some scholars also have twitter and LinkedIn handle where they post these opportunities, one can make a connection and enjoy from their experiences.🍇
Thank You. Studying outside Nigeria, how does it feel?? Stressful, tasking or quite with ease? Share your experience.
Studying outside Nigeria, I will say is adventurous…you are presented with a new environment, working group and sometimes lecture method. It is definitely tasking but at same time fun, because you tend to learn new things in your field whilst having this multicultural integration. Here, I have been exposed to great deal of German cuisines, culture and most especially language….it feels so good learning new things and seeing the world in a different dimension as you once saw it!🤗🤗
What are your words of advice to intending scholarship applicants.??
My advice to scholarship applicants is not to relent, be determined, focused and keep improving on your application. Winners never quit and quitters never win. Every scholar has his or her own story of failure but we mostly post the success, this invariably means that no one cares to know why you failed, so succeed! Your dream is very achievable, people have achieved theirs, and you are not an exception. You have come too far to give up! I wish you all the best!!👯👯👯👯
YESSS.!!! We have come too far to give up. Thank you so much sir for coming. I am inspired.🙌🙌🙌🙌
