💥💥Welcome to honournaija_blog, please can we meet you ma?
My name is Sussan Kwaghdoo Agber, I did my undergraduate at Federal university of Agriculture Makurdi and my post graduate studies at University of British Columbia Vancouver, Canada.
I am from Vandeikya LGA of Benue state and I love reading non- fiction and travelling.
Lovely, what inspired you to seek scholarship and to study outside Nigeria?
Actually, what inspired me was my course. I was offered forestry for my undergraduate days and I had no idea what the course was about. I went online to do some research on what it is about and I was intrigued at what I saw. I discovered that forestry is a top notch field in other countries and well recognized than our country. During my 100l, I was opportune to attend the International forestry symposium in Kumasi, Ghana and I met other students in forestry. These two keys were what inspired me to apply for scholarship and study outside Nigeria.
Amazing, Were you rejected?? how did you handle it? share your experience.
Well, actually I didn’t experience any rejection. I applied for the Master Card scholarship and I got it on my first attempt. I give all thanks to God.
Excellent, Did you feel excited after getting one? Share your experience.
It was amazing, I was in Ghana attending African Climate week in Ghana when I got the call. I was so happy and went on my knees to thank God. I am adventurous and I want the International connection too. I am a kind of person that wants more in life and this was part of it. I was and still excited that I got the scholarship.
Impressive, From your experience, what are the needful things to be done before securing a scholarship?
Okay, I will say research about this scholarships that you want and meet people that has been in the system. Also, have your transcript at hand and very important. Look at the requirements and make sure you meet them too. Trust God intentionally too.
Great one, Any platform that students can get scholarships from? please share
There are platforms such as whatsapp groups, twitters and research online too.
Studying outside Nigeria, how does it feel?? Stressful, tasking or quite with ease? Share your experience.
Actually, studying outside Nigeria has its challenges too. The culture shock and you are experiencing a different educational system. If you can excel in Nigeria schools, you can excel anywhere in the world. Also, sometimes networking could be a challenge. For instances, what you can say to a fellow Nigerian and it’s been taken as joke cannot be said to a white, it might become offensive. So I will say read more about your desired country and learn their culture.
Insightful, What are your words of advice to intending scholarship applicants.??
I will say work hard, applying for scholarship is a full time. Read more about the application like 4-5 times in a day so that you can properly understand the process. It took me three months to complete it and I spent money too. Watch videos on youtube about scholarship applications too to be properly groomed before starting your application. BELIEVE IN GOD TOOOOOO, his grace distinct you among others. Prepare your documents as stated in the requirements of the scholarship you are applying for.
