‘Your Service Year Is A Screen Board For Your Future’ – NYSC Retired Director Triggers Corps Members

Sharing is caring!

Retired Director of the National Youth Service Corps, Youth Counselor and Motivational Speaker, Mrs. Mary Efiom Dan-Abia has stressed the need for Corps Members to be proactive in whatever they do to ensure maximum result.

She made this call during her motivational lecture captioned, “You are an Ambassador” at the 2019 Batch ‘C’, Stream II Orientation Course held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Obubra, Cross River state. She charged them to embark the journey of life with dedication and commitment as ambassadors.

She stressed that the time has come for them to take responsibility for the decisions they make, stating that they have a lot of potentials hidden in them, and must therefore work towards unlocking them. She challenged them to make use of their challenges and problems to make their lives better rather than dwelling so much on those challenges.

“Believe in your dreams and surmount your challenges, create opportunities wherever you find yourselves. Have the right attitude towards life and work with reliable teammates that share the same vision with you”, she advised, adding that their deployment to Cross River will help to demystify the preconceived prejudices they have about the state.

She further implored them to take active part in the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) trainings as it will add values to their lives in the years ahead either for profit making or for household use. She encouraged them to pray, plan and continue praying.

She also advised them to always inspire and raise those around them, reminding them on the need to enlarge their imagination, not forgetting to start small and embrace selflessness, entreating them to be careful with their lives and enjoy the immunities made available for them by the NYSC scheme.

In her vote of thanks, Corps Member Jogbojogbo Hawau appreciated the retired director for motherly advise, promising strict adherence to all the instructions.

Recall that before her retirement, Mrs. Dan-Abia served the NYSC in the following capacities; Personal Assistant to Director, Zonal Inspector, Head of Community Development Service (CDS), Head of personnel management, Assistant Director, Deputy Director, State Coordinator for 5 states, Deputy Director and Director.
