The Calm Tenacious Excelling Mind

Sharing is caring!

The world is involve in a rat race but only those with the lens of direction can duly find their part in life.

Today, I am a bit fascinated with our guest in the house. A settled water of calmness with inbuilt strength and tenacity he is😄. A person of few words but with an excellent mind.

Most welcome sir, lets meet you sir.

Thank you very much for having me. I am Dotun Olaoye, a native of Osun state. I had my Bachelor’s (Agriculture) from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. Nigeria. I just finished my master’s program in Plant Breeding and Genetics at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. I enjoy watching movie in the sci-fi category at my leisure and yes, I am a person of few words like you said😀.

Smiles. What inspired you to seek for scholarship and to study outside Nigeria?

Actually, I was basically motivated about pursuing graduate programs owing to the potential platform in resources generally available in the developed countries.

I love your motivation, Were you rejected?? how did you handle it? share your experience.

My applications were rejected in couple places (including the commonwealth shared program) but I persevered and improved on my profile as that ‘remains’ the only option for solving rejection especially in this case. In life, there many ‘no’ than ‘yes’. I let their ‘no’ fuel my energy to push more.

Bravo. How many scholarships did you applied for before hitting the jackpot?

Wow, I applied to at least 5 different scholarship programs before I actually hit the jackpot.

What a tenacity😇. Did you feel excited after getting one? Share your experience.

Yes, I was excited especially to get a position in a top research program in the United States. I love to grow mentally and this offered me the opportunity.

Nice. From your experience, what are the needful things to be done before securing a scholarship?

While there are many factors contributing to a scholarship/funding application success, I consider having a strong CGPA, good relationship with potential recommenders, proof of research/professional experience evident in handful of scholarly works (conference papers, seminars, original research articles, etc.), requisite skills (writing, analytics, etc.) –critical to achieving success.

Thank you for shedding this great light. Any platform that students can get scholarships from? please share.

Well, my best is to be active online by joining/following scholarship groups or people for scholarship positions/updates.

Lovely, Studying outside Nigeria, how does it feel?? Stressful, tasking or quite with ease? Share your experience.

Studying outside Nigeria is stressful yet rewarding. The academic rigor is huge especially if the position/program is in a relatively different program from the previous acquired qualification.

True. What are your words of advice to intending scholarship applicants.??

I would advise prospective candidates to build a strong profile (in academic/research) and remain hopeful in God for life.

Thank you for coming to honournaija_blog sir, your straight-forward responses are top notch 🌸🌸. I celebrate you.
